Western science has verified the presence of an electromagnetic field of energy which surrounds and permeates us all.The ancient Chinese scholars and physicians were highly aware of this field of energy, which they called Qi (pronounced “chee”).
It was their belief that all life is supported by this energy. Through meditation and continual practice, the ancient practitioners of various martial and medical arts were able to predict and chart the flow of Qi throughout the body. This concept of energy flow along specific pathways formed the basis of the acupuncture meridian theory and culminated in the precise mapping and detailed descriptions of the energy vortices or “points” which lie along the meridians. By facilitating the proper flow of Qi throughout the body, acupuncture enhances the process by which energy supports both the body and the mind. Acupuncture is used to guide and promote energy where and when it is needed, and to dislodge and disperse energy when and where it is stagnant. Through stimulation of the various acupuncture points, the body’s electromagnetic field can be manipulated in order to promote healing for practically any illness.
The Acupuncture needles are very thin solid-body filaments, not much thicker than an eyelash. Most patients feel no pain during treatment. The needles are sterile. They are used only once and then properly discarded.
Both traditional and conventional medical practitioners agree that balance, or homeostasis, is a necessary component for life. Acupuncture helps to regulate the body’s energy in order to create a balanced state of being– to facilitate one’s natural ability to achieve homeostasis. Both the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognize acupuncture as being safe and effective treatment for several types of conditions. Acupuncture is safe to use in conjunction with many other therapies including chiropractic, massage, physical therapy and conventional western medical treatment.
